About the AoD Timelines
In Age of Destiny, there are 3 distinct types of Plotlines (or Timelines or Storylines)
Pre-Set Plotlines
Pre-Set Plotlines feature the Main Characters from the WoT books. They are a series of storylines pre-set in advance by Staff (with member input) to further the story up to and including the Final Battle (Tarmon Gaidon). Not all these are RP'd out but are more often than not assumed based on current events.
Examples:
- Winternight
- Fall of the Stone of Tear
See the Main Plotline page to see how the stories of the Main Characters tie into the stories of the players.
Main Plotline
The Main Plotline is comprised of Player-based Major RPs that may include any of the sub-groups but may also tie into the Pre-Set Plotlines. These Major RPs are completely player driven and effect more than just 1-3 players in any given time. Any player may bring forth a Major RP for Staff approval. Please be aware of the Pre-Set Plotlines before submitting an outline. RP's like "Seanchan attacking the Tower" or "Rebuilding of the Malkier" are either Pre-Set or not likely to happen depending on the placement of the Pre-Set Storyline. If you are unsure, just ask. That is what the Staff is for.
Examples:
- Laman's Legacy (Cairhienin resisting the Aiel occupation of their city)
- Kandor RP (Battle of the Light vs the Shadow in Kandor)
- The Watchers RP (White Tower Embassy mistakes the size of the Black Tower. Death and retribution ensues)
- My Brothers Keeper (Red Ajah RP that effects the Whole Ajah.)
Player Timelines
This is your character(s) timeline and you have the freedom to play with it as you wish. We only ask that you respect other players' timelines and that of the Pre-Set and Main Timelines. You may play at any point in time preceding and up to the Main Timeline without any moderation or heavy set rules.
The Staff comes in only if you want to to influence the Main Characters, or Main plotlines. In such cases please consult the Staff first. For example Eriya Sedai of the Green Ajah, can't just walk up to Rand Al'Thor and demand that he dance with her, bond him and then bed him. It would be also considered bad form if your character suddenly has a dream about the Black Ajah or the Forsaken and you know exactly where they are and how to kill them.
This is called Goding. If you are 'Goding' with your character, you are detrimenting other people's fun, and you will likely soon find that no one will want to RP with you. So please be realistic in your RPs.
In Addition
We are not a strict rule-based RP site. All we ask is that you take into consideration the other players and their characters. Should you wish to pick up an upcoming "Major Roleplay" or create a new one, be sure to check with other players for interest and respect any constructive suggestions on behalf of the staff. The only reason why a Major Roleplay might be rejected is if it conflicts with either the Pre-Set or the Main Timeline. So know the timelines, Respect both Players and Staff, and Have Fun!
After all, the only thing limiting an amazing RP is you.
